Semaphorin3E-Plexin-D1 signaling controls pathway-specific synapse formation in the striatum

This paper describes a novel function of Sema3E-Plexin-D1 signaling in determining synapse specificity in the basal ganglia system. It represents a fruitful collaboration between our lab and Bernardo Sabatini's lab in our department. The combined complementary approaches (electrophysiology, imaging, mouse genetics, optogenetics, in situ cytochemistry, and behavior analysis) allowed us to elucidate the function of Sema3E-Plexin-D1 signaling in the formation of cortico-thalamo-striatal circuits in vivo.
